I can't believe you don't have potatoes growing Seed! For shame!
How about sweet potatoes?

Soil nematodes make all potatoes worthless. That is why I have this spot-no longer going to battle them with sweet potatoes.

@ninnymary pumpkins will go on sweet corn area.

@Ridgerunner you are correct, too late for any cool weather crops. Will start them in 2 weeks for October harvest.

Appreciate all suggestions-except for @Nyboy flowers for wife--get real...they are in front.

What about a cover crop like mustard or something else so it doesn't get weedy and you can till it under so next year it's ready for you to plant when something catches your eye?

You know that time we're under a blanket of snow and the southerners are all going on about "oh nothing like fresh (insert something tasty here)"

Unless you went permanent like rhubarb, or raspberries. Little late to get asparagus going.

I believe someone else suggested Flowers for Wife in an earlier post and Nyboy -- not having a wife so he couldn't know -- jumped on the suggestion of planting an area especially for seedcorn's wife to enjoy.

Of course we wives and men with wives already know the best-est growing area, the easiest to care fore growing area, and the most visible to passers-by is claimed first by us.

Great suggestions. Have rhubarb and asparagus. HAD blackberries-still digging up starts trying to kill them.....
