Spokane high temperature today is forecast to be 108°F!

I believe the record high before June 2015 was 101°. That fell yesterday.

I think when I lived in Seattle we didn't even have AC. Of course that was 47 years ago. Weather has changed since then.

Growing up we had 1 window AC and that was in my parents bedroom. Every house I ever had needed central AC for me to even look at.

Seattles weather is not similar at all to ours. We are inland several hundred miles with at least one mountain range between us and the Pacific.
Ordinarily I don't think a/c is needed in a house around here. We run box fans in the windows all night and close the house up in the morning. It keeps the house about 20 degrees cooler than outside, which isn't saying much when it gets up to 108. But it's dry heat, which is somehow supposed to make us feel better I think.
