"How's Your Melons Doin'?"

I tried Asian melons for a couple of years.

They grew well, and produced early, but never seemed to have much flavor.

The flavor of the last few melons from my garden this year, as the vines faded away, remind me of those Asian melons.

So what do melons need for flavor development? Is it a number of hot days or does soil also make a difference.
I wonder, because when I actually have gotten a few ripe ones they were bland.

I imagine that actively growing, healthy plants produce the best flavors.

I learned that bug-attacked eggplants have bitter fruit.

So, it's how you grow your melon and how your melon grow. However, "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is." Yogi Berra
