Another difference between hares and rabbits, hares are born eyes open and a full coat of fur, rabbits, eyes shut and bald.
Flemish Giants can get really big 20+ pounds, you'd think they'd be classed as a meat rabbit but they're not, they're classed as a fancy. At least that's the way it was when we were into raising rabbits.

Yes, like our snowshoe rabbit, aka varying hare. We have them on our property but they aren't seen too often, other than their tracks in the snow.
I'm sure they're very wary because of our dogs.
