common sense is out the window

At the beginning of his first year in high school this year I know my grandson got stares and chuckles from in his classes when he answered his teachers with "Yes, Mam" or "Yes, Sir". The jaw-dropped stares were from the teachers -- the sneers and chuckles from other students.

I believe as a grade school kid we took a few also but then seemed
to rub off on a few when my teachers would be nicer to me because
I showed respect

Take backs must be a Southern thing as well, huh, seed?
I'm staying out of this one. I've seen the Hatfield-McCoy series when southerners start to fuss with each other.......

Yes, my southern relatives would require "take backs" or would offer to "take it back".

Ahhhh but see we even had that as a wee one in Wisconsin and brought
it along to Washington state. a kick I was actually born in Norfolk VA

My one victory of day the rest of the day went out the window.....
