Need Storage Bins

So for the longest time I've just dealt with soil mixing with 5gal buckets, rubbermaid bins and large buckets, depending on where I'm working (porch, yard, basement, ...) and I've hit my limit. I need to upgrade to something else, and want your opinions on what that will be.

Right now I'm thinking of some stackable containers with lids, like these
Gamma -- seems like these could slide right off if enough weight isn't in them
Suncast ($13 at Fleet Farm) -- these seem perfect. Anyone have experience?

My basic desire is this:

1. need bins to store base materials (stone, coir, sand, charcoal, ...)
2. store complete soil types (arid, everyday, epiphyte, ...)
3. ability to stack and access without moving them around. Un/Screwing a lid is fine
   1. This will make the real estate taken up by these in my garage and basement (winter gardening) much easier to work with

Anyone else have an alternative to those two brands above?

I stopped by Fleet Farm, which sells them, and they are far too flimsy. I think they'd do well for being on a single level, but when I put the slightest pressure on the top they stopped opening with much ease due to the pressure against the hinge

On a related note I was at a local gardening store and they had some slightly heavier duty ones. I asked them where they got them and they said the Container Store, so I went and bought a few of those.

How about getting one of those cheap computers. Put all ingredients in and roll it until mixed.

I think Cat had a typo and meant composters.

I have a good friend in another state who absolutely adores the Container Store. I think it's funny, but then I have never been in one and if I had I might get as excited as she does about all the containment possibilities.

You should let us see your space when you get all your supplies organized Sprig.

I think I've been in one less than 5 times. I enjoy being organized but I have a terrible imagination for how to get organized. If someone set my garage up and then told me "here, use this method" I would probably say "cool!!! Yeah, I'll keep this organized like this". For someone like me the container store is just an art supply store for non artists. So I can understand why your friend gets so excited about the place. It is pricey, though.

That could work but I don't want to keep something like that around just for mixing soil.

There is a container store about a mile from me. Went in when 1st opened never went back. Most of their stock other stores had for half the price.

guess im old school... 5 gallon plastic buckets with lids.. they stack nicely and when empty they stack inside each other..
