winter squash: what kind is easy to grow?

Squash of any kind will do real well in manure (of cow or horse)
Pollination and water, and sun.

I found Thelma Sander's sweet potato squash (Seed Saver's Exchange and Baker Creek) to be very prolific and easy to grow. My packet of 25 seeds yielded over 100 very tasty (for acorn squash) squash. Good luck!

Hey wifezilla--the sweet potato squash is just a heritage variety of acorn. It is cream colored outside, paler orange inside. I think it is much more prolific and tasty than today's green acorn squash.

Delicata is also a "sweet potato" squash. Wonderfully delish . . . !

It may have played role in the development of Sweet Dumpling and others. Related, whatever the case may be, and related to acorns . . . and pumpkins, spaghetti squash, patty pans, zucchini . . .

Be careful if you want to save seed .

a thread from the past, but, well, why not?

i found some Dumpling Squash seeds today along with some Scallion Onion seeds. i'm not sure Dumpling is the same as Sweet Dumpling but i'd guess they are the same. hmm, now where am i going to put these?
