Welcome @Granny of 7 so glad to have you here! We moved 2 years ago from Livingston (75 miles north of Houston) to north of Tyler. We love it up here! Where are you located? Conroe? Tomball? Farther out?

A fast growing tree.... Mimosa makes a pretty tree and the blooms smell good too. What about a Rain tree? They have beautiful leaf colors in the fall and they grow fast. They are all over Houston. Just don't plant Chinese Tallow trees! Horrible invasives, I hate them! If you need a windbreak, plant red cedars, they stay green all year and they grow thick and tall. We have red cedars all over our place, they make attractive trees.

Tell us a little more about yourself. Do you plant a vegetable garden? Flowers? And we love pictures! Post lots!

I have considered Mimosas and will probably be purchasing one this year. Never heard of a rain tree but I am going to check that out too! Thanks so much for your advice and I am going to update my info.

Passion Vine Spring 2016.jpg
Here is a passion vine I planted in 2016. A mockingbird built a nest in the dense vine.
