Another very requested seed is this yellow podded bean called "Lilaschecke" from a New York SSE member who has recently stopped listing in the SSE yearbook.

This bean came to me from a bean grower friend in Liebenfels, Austria. A very productive pole bean. One of my most requested beans called "Bregenzer". I had just great drying weather this year. Very dry hardly any rain. It made the seeds and pods look just fantastic. Second photo is the dry pod of this variety.

This one looks like it would be an attractive cooked beam. It looks nice and full plus those light and dark areas would contrast even after cooking.

This looks very similar to one I received in trade 'John's Purple Polish' maybe the same bean? But like my pink seeded 'Grandpa Gerono' when I harvested seed it was a different color.

John's Purple Polish also a yellow podded bean.
Again I'm wondering if climate or type of soil made the difference.

Another yellow podded or wax bean I've grown was found at a Seedy Saturday from a Polish immigrant who wanted others to grow it and help save this variety.

Freshly harvested seed and dried pod, it's such a pretty dove grey almost pewter color when first harvested but does darken with age.

And the addiction continues, :love those beans.

Another bean I really like as a shelly, I think we can thank @Zeedman for getting this one back into circulation... Shellies are huge. The original info I have on this one...

Seed Savers Exchange does/did? list Bird Egg #3. Donated to SSE in the early 1980s by Ralph Stevenson of Tekonsha, Michigan (MI ST R) who acquired this variety from John Withee of Lynnfield, MA (Wanigan Associates). SSE Accession # 102073. SSE BEAN 1772.

Well, we got a light freeze last night. Yesterday I dug up and potted one of the healthiest plants of Hilo Laotian Lady lima, trimmed it back, and put it in a south-facing window of my sun room. She looks good today, no transplant shock, so I'll see if I can't coax a few pods out of her. I think I'll go ahead and mail out my other returns now rather than wait. @Bluejay77

Annette I grew some of the Bird Egg #3 Beans you sent me last year. They are big and beautiful. Harvest was low because of the terrible weather this season. Thanks again :)
