@HmooseK , now if you hadn't told us we never would have known what hidden talents you have. Even if you no longer do them we can still pick your brain for advice.
I agree health issues sure can put a dent in what we can do, I can attest to that. Hubby's dad took up oil painting late in life, it's a shame he didn't start earlier his paintings were really beautiful, hubby's sister has most of them now.

I did a bit of oil painting back in the day but didn't stick with it, it involved sitting still :)Fly tying always intrigued me, but never had the patience to give it a go.

I did refinsh a few pieces of furniture and when it came to tearing down walls I was pretty good with a crow bar :). Although through age we loose the ability to do some of the things we loved doing there's always the garden. Might be smaller, might be more raised beds, more gardening aids, a bit of added help with the tough stuff.
Sitting/kneeling stools, tools with ergonomic handles for those with arthritic hands etc. When there's a will there will always be a way.

Edited to include...Sitting is good, I excel in that department ;).

My main hobby is gardening (of course), although I also have a passion for building high-end computers, hunting, fishing, wildlife photography, taxidermy & cooking. I stay pretty busy in retirement.

Mrs. Ranch has always been big into quilting (all hand stitched) & has won both county & state awards quite a number of times. Unfortunately, hand-quilting is becoming a lost art... especially among the younger crowd.

@w_r_ranch , that head mount is magnificent, you and our #2 son would hit it off he's into taxidermy too. Hubby's been into computers since you had to build your own from a Radio Shack kit. He keeps me on a short leash with mine:lol:.
Your wife's quilts are really beautiful it takes precision and a good eye to accomplish what she has, no other words for it they are down right gorgeous. My neighbor is into quilting, it always amazes me how each piece has such sharp corners

@HmooseK , who would have thunk a guy with a handle like yours did such delicate and intricate work :), your mom's a very lucky lady.

@w_r_ranch , Texas icons for that first quilt - when you have time, maybe you can tell us what your wife has included. I see flag, map, longhorns, cowboy boots ...

I was getting into fly fishing fairly well when DW entered the picture. A friend had given me a fly tying kit. Oh boy! DW has small hands so maybe she could tie flies! She not only wasn't much interested in that, she thought fly fishing was pretty silly since it would cost me about 395,000 times more for the trip than just buying the fish ... real clincher is that she doesn't really like trout .

See, there is my excuse, big clumsy digitS'
