Not quite bean planting weather yet

Looks more like six more months to go before bean planting time.

Who is Victoria BC has Frost. Maybe I can order them direct myself.

i made a mistake. saw VIC before and thought it meant Victoria BC, but when looking again to get contact info i see they are not in Canada, but in Australia, and also out of stock until later this year. another place down under also has them, but also out of stock. says they won't ship overseas due to quarantine.

i've never done any overseas orders so have no idea how likely it would be for something like bean seeds to be an issue.

kinda sad though, but i do understand that if a country wants to avoid diseases and weed species from being introduced to be very strict about imports of plants/seeds.

@flowerbug,

Can you give me the link to the seed company in Australia. If I order them they will get through to me with my seed import license label that I will send them. Also bean seed will be cleaned and there will be no weed seeds in the packet.

I had actually gotten the seeds originally from someone in Australia who I think got them from the Australian seed bank. My sample was probably less than 10 seeds. A packet from a seed company down under will probably be 30 or 40 beans.

Frost is almost equally divided between red and white, much like Joyce Fetterley's red and white, Bobolink and some others.

I make the same sort of mistake with someone I order from. They are in Vancouver so I keep thinking I need extra postage for Canada. Then I remember they are in Vancouver WASHINGTON.

Or when I was ordering seeds from Cleveland and then discovered they meant Cleveland QUEENSLAND (Australia)

As you might infer, I have ordered seed from Australia before and while what I ordered were not beans per-se they were legumes. It can be tricky and bear in mind I was doing this almost a decade ago, when the rules were a lot looser (someone on the other forum says that, by now, the import rules are all but "nothing in, nothing out" (or why he can't get seed from us either).
