@murphysranch have you ever canned rutabagas? I have a boat load of them! Everything I read said they matured in the fall......ummmm nope! They are done. The heat is getting to them. So now what? I thought we could pull some all summer and harvest what was left in the fall. That’s what I get for thinking!

i had them grow all season when i had them in the one time i grew them a few years ago. after tasting decided i liked turnips better.

rutabagas were one of the ingredients listed in Pasties up north, used to get one a week for food at local grocer's up there, some lady had a small business making them and they were always excellent. she made a wonderful whole wheat vegetarian version which had broccoli and cheese in it. when she finally retired it was the end of an era in good eats.

Bay, my neighbor has a plum tree that gives fruit just like those wild ones. It's been there for at least 50 years. Fruit is super sweet and super juicy. Skin is a little tart. I wonder if it's a wild plum?

Wild plums are about the size of a cherry, tame plums are much larger.

Plum trees are beautiful in spring flower. What kind of flowers do wild plum get ?

Little blooms, not showy at all. The trees have thorns and stay small.
