My sister's mother inlaw uses fresh mint in her ice tea, its really good.

Orange mint... We have peppermint (or is it spearmint?) and Chocolate mint. May need to add some orange!I have mint all over the place, on purpose. It pulls easy if it starts getting out of hand and smells so good that it's not even a chore.
My favorite favorite favorite is orange mint,I love that stuff!

You have your beef, noodles, green onions, bean sprouts, cilantro, Thai basil ... and mint?!
... just be careful to move the mint to the side of your bowl ... so that there is less of a chance of you stuffing it in your mouth and eating any of it.

The orange is the most fragrant. It's a spicy citrusy minty smell. But not always easy to find.

"Curry plant" made me laugh! Curry seasoning is a mix of herbs, most typically being: Coriander, Cumin, Fenugreek, and Turmeric (often with red pepper and onion powder in the mix). So if you wanted to grow your own curry, you would grow the afore mentioned plants.
I'm sorry that a shopkeeper/nursery owner in my state was misinformed and misled you.
As to mint, It grows wild next to our brook. I've always used it in iced tea as my grandmother did before me. Sometimes I just pick and eat a few leaves when I'm out and about. Also I sometimes cut off the top of a plant, rinse it off, and bring it inside where it will keep in a small jar of water, grow a root system, and be a ready supply of mint leaves.

Several years ago "flavored mint" was super popular and they really DID smell like the label. That is when I found chocolate mint, very prolific.
Mint is the "tofu" of herbs.
