Have friends from the city coming up for weekend ( I stocked my bar) They want to go to a farmers market get fresh pumpkins and make pies. My kitchen is a dream kitchen compared to the shoe box city kitchen they have. How many pumpkins a pie , want to make at least 4 pies. How does one freeze pies. Any tips

She says Nestle's evaporated milk. Nestle's is sweeter and Carnation (look at can) may have Libby's recipe printed on label.

REMEMBER. Libby doesn't use Jack o'lantern pumpkins. You will make a very mild tasting pie if you do. Might think of it more as a custard pie when you are eating it ... Look for winter squash. More flavor!

1 2/3 cups cooked squash = 1 (15oz) can Libby's
3 1/3 cups cooked squash = 1 (29oz) can Libby's

Uff da ..

Steamed or baked ... What could be easier than a microwaved squash? I have more trouble opening a can ;).

Frozen punkin pie is okay. What suffers is the crust. (Kinda fun eating a slice of pie that's only partially thawed :).)

Just use Libby's canned pumpkin. By the time your guests do all the prep work involved, they will be ready to go to the grocery store and buy pre-cooked pies. One can of pumpkin per pie.

Lucky they want to use real pumpkins don't want canned

I did the real pumpkin thing one time. Nope. Use the canned stuff. Let them make some pie dough for that real baking experience. and finish with some real whipped cream. That should be plenty of baking exploits. :thumbsup
