Something very similar happened to me a few days ago. While we were driving, a coyote or dog peeled off down the side of the road and then ran a marathon on the highway along the reservoir before turning up the road to Pocantico. Never did figure out what it was in such a hurry for or why it was out in the day (it seemed to be running too healthily to be sick).

That was in the paper this morning. I thought it totally appropriate for a gardening forum. On here, most of us should know a coyote from a dog. I can't say that on the chicken forum.

i've only seen coyotes in the daytime here twice in over 20yrs here and both times they were high-tailing it across an open field. i know they are around, just rarely see them.

Saw ..

. two coyotes about 20 miles apart last week.

They were 50/100 yards out in wheat fields just traveling along parallel to the roadway.

The guy I get hay from told me that he has hired a guy to come hunt them around his farm. They've removed over 40 since December.

I understand they can get too 5hick but here when people hunt them, coons, ground hogs, etc explode causing 10X mor damage than coyotes ever do.

That's what happens when we disrupt the ecosystem, another plague is waiting to happen.
