We made this sign for an upcoming arts and crafts event and I wanted to share it while bringing up a discussion if anyone would like to chime in.

"FARMING keeps the family fed
THE FARMER keeps the livestock fed
BUT GOD keeps the soul fed"

The wording just kind of came into mind a few weeks ago. Essentially, I wanted people to have deeper appreciation for farming with respect to God. Especially for those who can and freeze and store their produce- you can attest to the fact it will feed you year round. You tend to the livestock and keep them fed so they provide for you in turn. God keeps the soul nourished so you can do all these things. It's a balanced relationship. Does this make sense, what I've tried to communicate?

It made me want to open the discussion for how you see God in your gardening, and how it makes you feel to enjoy a good day made by Him. Do you see Him in all the birds surrounding you, or the chickens scratching the soil? What part of the garden makes you just really admire God's creation?

Yes, there is no garden without God, nor anything else for that matter. God is the largest part of anything I do on the homestead, with respect for how He intended the animals and garden to grow and not how man has decided they should.

I couldn't take the first step out onto the land without His help and guidance in what to do out there.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men...

Great thread, BTW!!! :thumbsup

Every time a seed I plant germinates I know there is a greater being than just us mortals
.
THANX RICH

I'm with you on this Rich. There's something special when you see such a tiny little seed begin to sprout. Through all the stages of our plants lives, God is ever present. Makes me feel even more blessed that I have the ability to help carry out His "small miracles" every growing season.

The ONLY problem with involving God in your gardening is that when you start he treats you like a "baby Christian Gardener", but later on you don't get as many passes.
Either that, or I care more...not sure which.
Actually, the Holy Spirit is always giving me good ideas on gardening AND animal training.

Me too, Ducks! Sometimes they don't work...or at least I think they don't, only to find He's leading me to the next level of that kind of gardening and He knows full well I need to be led, not pushed, into something new.

All my ideas that are good, interesting and fulfilling come from Him, so even if they don't work as I had wanted I know they are part of a bigger plan that I cannot see but that He is working out for me.

All of it very exciting and full of anticipation and purpose! :weee
