Mary, my sympathies on your concerns of getting possible roosters instead of hen chicks. So, since you are an adopted Southern bell now, sweet tea is much too mild, I would say that a creme de mint or Mint Julep or Southern Comfort would do wonders to calm you right down. Then talk to the sellers.
you do know that i know nothing of chickens right? i'd be terrified if someone tried to hand me a chick. to me they are just the decoy versions of dinosaurs and we know what they are capable of doing...
Are you referring to the white one as the other one in the background who's tail is also ambiguous?Miss Mary, she looks like a pullet to me. BA hens can have a larger comb compared to many breeds of chickens, so a lot of folks can get nervous when they see a small comb starting at that age.
This one looks even more confusing because she stands sort of like a cockerel in these pics and her tail looks ambiguous....as does the tail of one of the other pullets in the background.
I've never noticed cockerels "yawning" or gaping prior to the onset of crowing....
