And since I’m sitting here on the patio, here’s more purple I can quickly share with you.... and this isn’t the last of it. The sunflowers were planted by the birds... my favorite garden helpers. The deer haven’t found the sunflowers yet!

Thank you, Carol> . In that last photo you can see where i will eventually be putting the garden — i want to put in a few raised beds that will need to be surrounded w/ deer fencing. The beds will be to the right of the trellises, and just beyond the rhubarb that’s there now. We plan to fence in that lower pasture... at some point. The coop and garden area would be outside the fence, as would that charming little blue spruce.

it's nice to have it close to the house as much as possible as it means you'll see it more and be more likely to take care of things and also to get out and harvest when things are ready, plus being in closer proximity to the house does deter some animals somewhat...

They aren't my favorites, but my clients want a red/white/blue theme every year from now on, and I find it not so easy to be creative sticking to that color scheme with the annuals usually available. Also nothing tall enough to block a view when seated.
I have gone on a bit of a mint binge the last few years and always include orange mint in the containers. This year they have overpowered the blooming annuals . Not sure what my clients thoughts are on the mints, they don't give me much feedback unless I ask specifically.

Next years herb pot will only have one strawberry plant and one mint. The poor tarragon has gone to laying down under the mint. I guess it's a little discouraging trying to compete with a type A personality like mint has, haha.
