Yeah, it's so smart it keeps doing things I don't tell it to do and don't want it to do. It certainly has a mind of its own. I'll try tapping more than I'm doing now.

One problem I have is glare, especially shiny black beans. Usually I can improve that by changing angles or reducing light but some are really shiny. Sometimes it wants to focus on something else, had that problems with white beans. I try to use a neutral background for that.

i just started getting parts ordered for taking bean pictures - well that's not entirely true since i do already have the camera and the lens i am planning on using.

depending upon how long it takes for things to get shipped/delivered and whatever extra engineering i have to do i hope to be up and running at last ASAP. i think a month is optimistic but we'll see what the shippers are doing these days with everyone worried about DaVirus[tm].

my previous plans were set back quite a bit by unexpected expenses so the budget finally came around at last this month. :)

along with the stuff i need for the camera i made sure to order some extra local fast storage for the PC because i'm planning on shooting a lot of pictures and whatever editing i'll need to do. what is really funny is that the extra storage i ordered is going to be larger than the entire external backup device i'm currently using (which is about 10yrs old) but a lot faster.

yes, glare is what bugs me the most when i'm trying to get a clear picture. i still have a lot to learn but i'm hoping when i get going with pictures i'll have whatever lighting figured out so that i'm not getting the extras i don't want.

For anyone wondering about when abeancollectorswindow website will be back up. It should be back up in about 24-48 hours. Had to get the DNS information on the domain changed today. So your link in your bookmark points to the correct server.

Bean Mail From This last Saturday. From Tajana Nagle who lives in Latvia. Three Bush Beans and one semi runner. The first photo Tjana did not know what the name of the beans was and since it was going to go through USDA seed inspectors before it got to me. I thought it should probably have something of a name on the packet and to have it match my package inventory list. So I taged the bean with the name Tajana Special.

Bush - Dry "Tajana Special"

Bush - Dry "Stueben Yellow Eye" - I've seen this bean traded in Seed Savers yearbook since the early 1980's. I believe it is an American variety. The bean has a broader figure around the eye than most yellow eyes. Tajana collected it on one of her trips into Russia.

Bluejay, in Russia and Ukraine, bean from the second photo is called Krasnaya Shapochka (Little Red Riding Hood). I suppose these are the same beans. Latvia was once part of the Soviet Union.

I thought that Steuben Yellow Eye is another name for Molasses Face bean. How is it really?

@Artorius,

This Stueben Yellow Eye has spotting around the margins of the figure. Molasses Face does not hardly have any spotting but more of an oval patch around the eye more often evenly colored around the eye. This Stueben bean the eye patch is offset more to one side of the eye and sometimes extends almost down to the other side of the seed. Molases face also has no black specks in the yellow eye patch. Can you seed the difference. Stueben is also a bush plant and Molasses face is a semi runner.

Bluejay, thanks for explanations. I read somewhere on the internet that these two names are synonyms. Now everything is clear to me.

@Artorius,

Yes I have also seen on websites that sell Stueben Yellow Eye. They say that the name is syonymous with Molasses Face. I'm not sure they have that correct. I wonder how they arrived at that information.
