This week my company has made it mandatory that all mechanics that work within 6' of each other on projects wear mask and gloves at all times. We as a company have been processing 100's of loads of un-processed chicken from all the major poultry plants in the state. They come in bleed, plucked and uneviscerated. When i say 100's of loads to put it in perspective, we have been processing 45 truck loads a shift for 3 shifts everyday for 2 weeks now. This is just to de-populate the market we are being told. From what im hearing our plants out west and on the east coast are dealing with the same thing with Hogs and Cattle. when this is over there is going to be a huge void to fill and it wont happen over night.
So you are saying we won't run out of dog food? I am glad that the animals are not going to waste.

Why most do not believe numbers. Local nursing home had 2 positives Monday. By Wednesday, they had 60. Re tested, false positives, yet the CDC is still counting them as positives.......the 2 had slight flu symptoms.

*shrug* i'm sure many cases were never detected, many more than the other way. without an actual randomized test of a broad enough population we won't really know the infection rate, but to me it doesn't look like this is over yet (for us or many places in the world). Russia, Brazil, Mexico, India all ramping up and we're not really controlling it all that well either...

Some doctors & coroners have been reporting that the govt provides an additional amount of $ for anyone diagnosed as COVID-19. If true, that would be a huge incentive for medical professionals seeking those additional funds to adjust documentation accordingly. It might also explain how the deaths attributed to COVID-19 per day suddenly skyrocketed from one day to the next, and have remained at that level since. Apparently, no one dies from anything else now? The numbers in my state do not support such a high COVID-19 death rate.

I am sory to say that the news reporters will not tell you is that many of the workers in slaughterhouses do not speak a word of English. Yes, I have gone to many of them in Cal. to collect biological samples as well as animal organs for Vet. Students to disect. Many drive cars, but have very little or no knowledge of how to drive or the law of the road driving. Also, I know several people in Cal. that had to recently relocate from their apartments due to huge monthly rent increases ,and their 3 bedroom apartment is rented out to up to 10 unrelated undocumented immigrants who are charged a much higher rent per apartment thanks to our very liberal welfare and rent subsity programs. Drug use and other illegal activities have skyrocketed , so many other renters are moving out early and the complex managers are happy with that as they rent those apartments for much higher rents. :idunno

@baymule - That was a drive! I remember driving back to Lubbock when I was a kid. It took forever to get there.

I actually ventured out last Friday. We had to make a run to Lowes to get some lumber for the new coop and made a stop at Walmart on the way home.

There was no tp, no liquid soap, no wipes, very little meat. You could see where things have been moved around to make it look fuller than it was. The produce section was basically half the size that it had been. It looked strange seeing the empty shelves.

I was able to pick up 4 cases of pint canning jars to replace the ones that had been shattered when I ordered online.

I don't like wearing a mask. It makes me out of breath trying to breath through the darn thing.

we lost the first friend of the family to this virus. :(

MI rate is doing better, but still a lot of new infections each day, testing rate is improving so they are finding less of a % of cases. this to me at least means we're finally able to start isolating the sick people and to let people know what their status is. to me that is knowledge and with that comes more certainty of where things are at and how we can keep moving forwards.

construction and some manufacturing re-opening with certain restrictions and controls. paperwork, training, touchless temperatures measurers, etc.
