Right at 1/3rd of an acre ...

My gardens haven't been all in one place for over 30 years. Sometimes in the backyard and then only across the alley and in the vacant lot, one street over :). Added together and at the largest, I would say 1/2 acre or 1/3rd acre. Really, they were closer to 1/3rd. However, I downsized.

In 2020, just a sukoshi more than half the size of yours, A L. Must amount to 1/5th or 1/4th of an acre ;).

Today was a long day. Went to the store and came home with some bareroot perennials. Then worked in the garden for about 5 hours. Pruned the blackberry bush, finished one of the 40ft stretches fence for the 40x7 garden. And worked about half the soil in that bed. Then put cardboard over the strawberry plants so tonight’s freeze doesn’t take out the blooms. View attachment 39187The greenhouse. Could only snap a quick pic because it was so cold today.

Is that the stick fence that I am seeing in the first photo? Have you done this before?

Yes. And no I haven’t. Know people who have but this is my first year trying it myself. I just need it keep rabbits out until about May lol hopefully it holds up. It definitely doesn’t do much to keep the deer out. One walked right through it the other night and knocked part of it down.

Hate to seem rude. But I don't think it will keep much out. Our garden is a fortress. Depends on what your local animals are.

I don’t mine I’d rather people be honest with me. But yes this is just an experiment and I’ll be happy if it just reduces the number of rabbits in my garden until May. Everywhere around here is pretty much sold out of fencing supplies so I thought I’d give it a try. I figure it’s better than nothing. Since the other option is no fence at all.

Any time you write something the intent can be misread. We only use heavy green coated fencing that you have to buy online. It is pricey but it lasts a life time. And we have found that deer stay away from.....human urine.
