We get a few plants from a nursury south of os. They run classes and a pick-n-pay field. These are videos you may find useful relative to your blackberries and possibly other vines.

Thank you!
we’re chainlink folks, they tell me the moose will jump a 6 ft. Fence and i don’t doubt it, but have never had them crowd it of try to jump.
We have chain link on the dogs yard and chain link on the chicken run but that’s it. Everything around here aside from the dogs or the chickens is big enough to jump it, small enough to fit through the links, or can climb. I’ve seen the deer jump the 5 foot barbed wire fence like it was nothing.

We used something similar too one of these on a good portion of it. View attachment 39217
In the rows gets hand weeded. The tomatoes and peppers are usually mulched with landscape fabric and feed bags. And some things like the cowpeas are vigorous enough that they crowd out the weeds after 1-2 weedings.

a wheeled stirrup hoe. :) we use a stirrup hoe here quite a bit for all our gardens and it is a lot quicker than anything else i've ever done. there are the two of us with both of us having issues so we're not always on top of everything each season. i think last year was the first one in a long time where even with Mom off for most of the summer i was able to keep up with mostly everything and even able to make progress on projects i had under way. injuries and illnesses are the setbacks.

the stick fence may work for a short time, but any determined rabbit will chew through those.

we use 7ft fence minimum for the main vegetable gardens and i have a border fence of 6ft around most of the property now, but it isn't a complete enclosing fence of all the gardens so we still get some deer/rabbit/etc traffic, but it is improving. my plan for the longer term would be to finish the enclosing fences i can do but Mom won't let me do any more right now as she likes things the way they are. to me putting so much work into gardens i hate to lose any of it to the deer and other critters, but it is the way it is and the main vegetable garden is protected enough to keep the animals from ruining the main crops (tomatoes and strawberries) that the rest is usually able to survive a bit of chewing from the random rabbit or groundhog or ... that gets in.

not hungry enough.

human urine will not stop a hungry deer either. i've sprayed cedar trees with various mixtures including urine and had deer back munching them within 30 minutes. the fences work the best. i don't bother with anything else now.

Went by the feed store again since they got they’re new shipment of seeds. Picked up some sugar baby watermelons and some white scallop squash seeds. I also picked up onion sets. I haven’t grown onions in several year since they didn’t do well at all in the old garden so im going to give them a try in the new one. The feed store actually had tomato and pepper starts already I couldn’t believe it! Our last frost isn’t until April!
When I got home, I worked on the stick fence again, cut the seed potatoes I’m planting Saturday and planted the onion sets I just bought. The last tray of peppers got moved out to the greenhouse this morning so I’ll be starting on tomatoes soon.

I talked to the owner/manager of a Mom 'n Pop about that. She said it was for people with greenhouses. A lot of farmer's market people have greenhouses and would sometimes buy up her entire supply.

It was aggravating when the variety I wanted was sold out everywhere by the time I was ready to plant them. I'd get some early and keep them inside until time to plant. That was always an indeterminate tomato so I'd prune it back to keep it the right size. I would not try that with determinate tomatoes.

Picked the first round of collards and thinned the spinach again. The spinach went in my eggs this morning! Planted roughly 60ft of potatoes. Started 72 out of the 90 tomatoes tomatoes in the greenhouse just have one more tray of San Marzano's to start. And a pot of sage and two pots of basil. The last section of garden fence is about 1/3 finished and I should have it done before the end of the week. The strawberries are enjoying the nice weather and are going crazy putting out new leaves. The hot peppers, eggplant and radish have all sprouted. As has the tomatoes I started earlier this week.
