A great southern breakfast is biscuits & chocolate gravy with a pat of butter on top. Grandma made that for me every time I or she visited.

You just HAD to say beans... :drool Coffee... cocoa... vanilla... life without "beans" would be so bland & boring.

plus there are some combinations of flavors and textures and even heat that are great, like a chocolate shake and hot nicely salted french fries or my recent favorite of hot chocolate with chilis in it. potato chips with a bit of chocolate is also pretty good and we do have Jr. Mints and popcorn at times for dinner.

Good morning. Been awake for awhile. Done with coffee, had brownies for breakfast.
Yesterday i got a span of fence down, pulled the T-posts and rolled up the wire. I took down 3 cow panels and replaced with a span of wire. Neighbor Robert showed up and helped put the wire up. Then I went to take down 3 horse panels and he cut 2 dead oak trees. Didn't want to leave them for the new owners, if they eventually fell, they would have hit the parameter fence. By the time I got the horse panels down, I was beat. I worked outside from 8:30 to 3:00. I rested for about an hour, then fed animals.

Today I'll put up wire in place of the horse panels. If I have wire left over, I'll take down more cow panels. I don't want to take the pens down, the new owners need them, that's why as I take down cow panels, I replace them with the wire. I need the cow panels to put up pens for the sheep at son's rent house. Those pens will be temporary, cow panels are easier to put up and take down.

Will start loading truck and trailer for trip to Groveton Friday, come back Saturday evening. I gotta get busy on loading it up!

Yummy brownies for breakfast! I'm sure there was more to your post but my mind kept thinking about brownies and coffee 😋

I had coffee with cinnamon raisin bagel and scrambled eggs.

I'm already thinking about lunch and decided to make a loaded sweet potato. I thought this picture looked promising. I have most ingredients on hand so that is a plus!

Will have kabocha pie for a second breakfast. And, that is coming up real soon. You see, I made more than the quiche yesterday afternoon ;).

Checked snotel (snow tell :)) reports for the Cascades. 😁 120, 140, 160 percent of normal. Please Please don't let it all melt at once.

What are folks doing to conserve heat this winter? I haven't done much but was rather dismayed to see that our fuel bill for late fall/early winter is up 18%. This winter is a tad more normal than last but that's a bit of a jump.

I've closed the South Room and utility room with its single heat vent. Next to no sunshine and heavy drapes. The rooms stay consistently at well below 60° (16° C). In this small house, that is about 30% of the floor space that is lots cooler than room temperature. The curtain went up between the living room and kitchen on the coldest days and nights around the first. That doesn't help much since the kitchen stove use adds quite a bit to our daytime heating. Certainly no "open floor plan" when this old house was built but, that helps.

Steve
on to that pie ...
