Yes how nice it is that we are entering our 10th year. I think this is a well read bean thread. We are a number of things. A gardening group, seed savers, bean growers keeping all types of traditional beans viable, and hopefully safe from extinction. We also keep and grow outcrossed beans and turn some of them into exciting and promising new varieties. We share our gardening and bean growing knowledge. We share our amazing bean and garden photos here. We inform and entertain. We live in many diverse locations around the world growing beans in varied climates and soil types. Network growers here live in suburbia, small rural towns and some also live on farms. We feel very much like family. Last but not least we welcome gardeners and bean growers to this group that are experienced or new to bean growing that strive to make their bean growing experience a great success.

For the uninititated the network beans available to grow revolves mostly around my website, www.abeancollectorswindow.com. Details of how the Network operates can be seen by clicking on the link near the top of any of the websites pages marked "Network" in yellow text. If you have any questions after reading that page. I will be more than happy to answer any questions by emailing me at upadam@comcast.net.

I have also been offering for a number of seasons beans that are not listed on the Network section of my website that I can not always grow out myself. These beans have come into the collection in various years and are stored in my freezers. These beans need an increase in seed quantity, and sometimes quality. I refer to these varieties as Priority Beans. These beans are more in need of a grow out than most of the beans listed on the Network pages. The quantities of these seed beans are sometimes very small. Below is my 2022 list of these Priority beans. Bean shipments will not begin until sometime in early April 2022.

Hi @flowerbug,

I've had a busy time since Christmas. I brought two commuters with me to my friends place in Florida to work on my 2022 bean garden grow outs plus other data projects. I recently traveled (1-20-2022) to Nobelsville, Indiana for the Central Indiana Seed Swap which took place on 1-22-2022. I drove it in my mini van. One of the admins of the swap invited me to stay at their house. There were two other gardeners involved in the swap stay there. After the Swap I left the next morning and drove home to pick up some things I forgot to take that I had acquired for Florida friend. I stayed home for a day and a half waiting for road crews to get the roads back into better traveling condition after northern Illinois's latest snow. Then a day and a half drive back here to Central Florida. I cooked up a pot of bean soup yesterday and worked on the Priority Bean list. After I got those two things done I quit for the day. I took a good nap after that, still feeling the effects of all the road tripping. Did I see some crazy drivers out on the road. Tuesday night I was going through downtown Atlanta. The HOV lane was totally empty in one spot and here comes a fast moving car that I estimated was traveling at 100 miles an hour. All the states need to get plentiful police presence back on their highways. I do anywhere from the speed limit to 5 over. That's my limit.

Anyway the seed swap was great. Quite a few of the seed sellers dropped out from feeling under the weather from a Omicron infection. The swap estimated that attendance (buyers) would be down from 2020's over 700 to about 150 to 200. They had over 400. I will go to the Appalachian Seed Swap in Pikeville, Kentucky the first saturday in April and hoping that seed swap won't be canceled.

Baby Green Lima happened to come up on my radar yesterday as i was searching for Henderson's and that was one of the common names for them along with: Henderson's Baby Lima, Earliest Bush Lima, and Henderson's Dwarf - since Henderson's has been around since the 1880's there might be a lot of names going around for this one.

Etna, i've grown here and only had one good season from it so i will have to pass on this one, but if you think it may ever get lost i probably could come up with some seeds for it. Etna came to me via Vermont Seed Company back in 2012. that first year was the best grow out i ever had from it and ever since then no matter where i've planted it i've not had great results.
