Somehow, It's Funny that Way

in more modern works one author that had some fun with this kind of idea was Harry Harrison. :) he came up with an agent and organisation that made sure that government did not work quite so efficient. considering that a very efficient government could pull off things like the Holocaust there was certainly some reason to think he was perhaps a bit right there in some ways...

the grind of justice should not be too fast so that mistakes can be caught before someone is wrongly executed. it's not skiing we're talking about but life...
There may be something there. In a world run by the Tick-Tock Man, we sometimes need a Harlequin (to move from Harry Harrison to Harlan Ellison).

i have a book to keep me busy for several more days. i needed a break from other mid-winter tasks and besides it's interesting. :)
