Looking forward to my after breakfast, herbal tea this morning.

Everything has to fit in with my sprinkler schedule. Can't be helped.

they're gone. i only had the one. Mom took the rest to other people. i'll have to make do with chocolate frosting and graham crackers or chocolate chip cookies.

We delivered some zucchini bread yesterday and came away with peaches from the friend's front yard.

So, I am having half a peach (! they're not quite ripe!), half a Bartlett pear (from store), and cream of wheat with cut-up longan for breakfast.

Reading about area aquifers this morning. Ours received a somewhat cursory okay, from the academic. She and the newspaper author seemed very careful not to say climate change. Meanwhile, they pointed off to the Columbia Basin with some concerning information about ground water depletion.

it's a sensitive issue because in order to do it sustainably you have to know the recharge rate over time and geology can be complex. if you have too many people sucking up all the groundwater then you have wells going dry and eventually people won't be able to irrigate crops or gardens. many states out west still do not adequately manage their groundwater and some of us in the east don't do a good enough job of it but are often rescued by precipitation.

California is in the middle of implementing their groundwater regulations and it is very interesting to read how that has been going in the many different basins.
