A year ago, the effort locally was to buy land for public use and not real estate development. It would have meant higher taxes. Oh, No! Well, how many people and how much misuse of the surface can be tolerated when the water for the communities is directly below??

Gained another small harvest from the Lemon Verbena plants. I think that this year, my supply of Anise Hyssop will not surprise me by being depleted before the LV. More AH plants here and there around the yard ... that I didn't plant! The older ones returned just fine, as well.

I can imagine how AH might be invasive where the soil has been disturbed. To the delight of the bees, they are absolutely determined to bloom. Maybe 2 harvests of tender stems with a reasonable number of leaves, then the magic of shortening daylight must prompt blooming. I cut a plant to the ground yesterday and harvest just enough leaves for 1 big mug of tea. Seeds are tiny and easily scattered so I have all these plants lively with bees and fragrant, but I'm down to seeds & stems for the tea kettle.

This morning , before a run to the soopermarket and before this afternoon's visit by an electrician, I did a simple search of my posts on a Gardenweb sub-forum.

Some of the TEG community have a history there. I have noticed that when they speak of GW, it is with some sadness after the changes that they experienced. Prior to the: changes, which occurred in 2015, GW was absolutely bouncing with discussions on all sorts of things! Perhaps some of that is continuing in sub-forums having to do with like household furniture or interior design. Those subjects never held any interest for me.

I remember when a 24 hour lag between posts on the sub-forum that I most often visited was unimaginable. By 5 or so years ago the continuing changes and problems members have has made it so 30 DAY lags are not uncommon. Here's another example, Idaho Gardening never had much going on: now, not a single post in over 12 months. It was obvious that several members were making real efforts everywhere on GW to keep things going but there were just too many frustrations.

It is such a relief to have such a steady TEG forum, such a limited need to tolerate frustrations. And now, I have gotten some of my GW frustrations off my chest and feel better.

annoying twits on the internet - say it ain't so!?

after Eternal September (when AOL came up) it hasn't really ever been the same. before then the internet and mailing lists were kinda the domain of the computer nerds and universities and while it was never pristine it also wasn't a huge dumping grounds of commercial dreck.

This kind of spam is so 2001!

It used to be relevant when the search engines were super stupid and would count any and all links back to sites.

And it maybe kind of worked when people were stupid and clicked on links without thinking about it.

These days, Search engines completely ignore this junk, and I can't imagine anybody ever clicking any of the links.

... so why do the spammers even bother?!? Seems like a complete waste of time / money.
