I've gotten too much praise for this to not share it.
First, the comic
Then, my response (context: what we refer to as penguins now are in fact "false penguins". The original penguin was the Great Auk, which went extinct in 1844 [so, as a bonus, in Poe's lifetime])

and time thy lie has caused ablation,
Still, thou has but scant relation,
to that storied bird of yore,
Even if in name they par thee,
No close kin of Great Auk are thee;
By all rights; this fact should bar thee,
from that title and its lore.
But extinction hath removed, ,
thy namesake from the mortal shore;
Its name usurped, forevermore."

2000 was the same year that "Star Wars 1" was supposed to bedazzle us--turned out to be a real yawner, but THIS film was the star.

That response elicited a reading of the introduction to the epistemology Wikipedia page and a search for the word origins of both epistemology and elicit.
Interesting that the final word in that introduction was "linguistics." As an anthropology student in a department with 2 archeologists and a museologist, I needed to step beyond those disciplines for guidance on social anthropology research. I was sent off to the 2 linguists in the education department
. They were of help!One eliciting technique I gained was, if you don't believe that you quite understand, choose something outrageous and be prepared to be corrected.
Bob: You said that we would need to clean that tough, seldom used trail as we hike through. Now, you are telling me to bring a mop!
