solid ice may take a bit longer to melt than snow.
when i lived up north the shoreline of Lake Superior would build up piles of ice that could stick around into the summer months. one time kayaking along the shore there were piles of ice still melting under some trees on the 4th of July.

It's been 3 weeks.
It's snow and then slush on top.

I will flip the placement of corn and building. The original corn area is a water run off area, and I don't want all of the dirt and manure washing away again.
I'm trying to figure out which pests window screen will actually keep out. I'm thinking the cabbage worm might be able to get through, so it needs smaller mesh covers, but rest should be safe with new dirt?
Does anyone know??

Looks similar to our obnoxious stink bugs. Different color shapes in different geographic areas. ?

Dry algae.
No, they're specific ahole bugs that kill cukes and pumpkins like no tomorrow. One burrows into stalks and chews it to death from the inside-out. The other produces zillions of minions that suck the life out of vines from the outside.
Worst part was I didn't see the adults until suddenly they were in decent numbers. And then, you're killing them daily, injecting vines daily. It's madness!
The stinkbugs are in my house, pooping and farting all over the place! The old farmhouse would get swarmed, like a horror movie!! Thousands!!!
Every time we have a warm day in winter, a dozen+ come out of idfk where.
There's really only two places those mofos come through, French doors, bc they're impossible to fully seal, and windows! Those top gaps when a window is open, even with screens in, they wiggle their way in!
Anyway, they're supposedly bad for some plants, but I've never seen anyone say they bother anything besides your clean walls and your nose.

they find gaps to hibernate in.
There's really only two places those mofos come through, French doors, bc they're impossible to fully seal, and windows! Those top gaps when a window is open, even with screens in, they wiggle their way in!
Anyway, they're supposedly bad for some plants, but I've never seen anyone say they bother anything besides your clean walls and your nose.
they will show up here, getting gaps sealed helps reduce how many but we usually have a few around.
the most annoying thing is that they will be attracted to moisture so they may climb on you heading for the mouth, eyes, nostrils and even ears if you sit still long enough... i don't think i've ever been bitten by them. i grab them with a washcloth or use a bit of paper to flick them back outside.
