stubbed toes and mud pies

it was actually warm outside when i ventured out to do some weeding. not much really needed to be done but i wanted to head off some blooming speedwells before they could drop yet more seeds.

half an hour later and that was enough. i could tell i hadn't been doing my knee bends lately. heh...

my token first day of weeding and gardening this spring. :)

It was 72* today when I took my niece out to lunch for her birthday and it was almost chilly!

Got my raised bed amended and planted cilantro, bok choi, tatsoi, radishes, pole beans and jalapenos and Jimmy Nardello peppers. Supposed to rain Tuesday and Wednesday and I wanted those seeds to get some rainwater.

For some reason my jalapenos failed under the grow lights so I figured I would just buy a 6 pack. Well no 6 packs around and each one is at least $3.50. Well when you need 10 plants that's a lot of money! Lesson learned for next year to do better.

Last year my son asked mid May if it was too late to plant peppers and I said yes but to go for it. He had gotten some Turkish pepper seeds from a vendor at the farmer's market. He direct sowed them and they grew and produced abundantly!

We shall see how my peppers do direct sowed.
