Annette, On your Red Eye Fall bean is that red shade it's true color after the seed is dry. If so that is beautiful. The brighter red shades on beans seem to be either speckles on the cranberry types or the red tends to be darker like maroon red.

@Bluejay, yes that's the color it was when it went in the freezer, I grew Red Eye Fall from a trade for the first time last year and two pods had beans with this color, now I won't know if it's just a reversed color, a mutation or a cross until the next time it's grown out. It would be nice if it was a stable mutation but that's wishful thinking. If it was a stable mutation I was thinking of naming it 'Rouge' or how about 'Bloodshot'.
Here's a closeup, this is the color when they went in the freezer.

The Big Bean Show - Day #14

This is the last of Billingsgate Segregations. Found this along with all the other Billingsgate segregations in 2014. Billingsgate #8 grew this one again this year and it came back 100% true. Maybe this one is also stable which will be proven by more grow outs. I have been calling this bean "Caboose" since it was the last Billingsgate segregation to be found and the last railroad car on the end of a train was always red.

The Big Bean Show - Day #15

This is new seed of "Bird Egg Blue" that I have grown this year. An original bean of mine that I named back around 1980. It's stable bush type, and grows without runners. It doesn't throw off anything unless of course it's exposed to other beans and happens to get crossed with some other variety by bees. Seed of this bean was requested and grown by a fellow in Belgium this year, and he said the plants were very healthy and he got a great crop of seed from this bean.

@aftermidnight we can fix you right up with that. I have two pole beans that look just like Bird Egg Blue. Selugia, and Cresijevec. Want some of one of them, or maybe some of both?

@Bluejay77 wow that would be super, a sample of both of those if possible :) as I don't plant many of most of the varieties I grow. By the way, the Emilia's Italian were put in the mail this morning, hopefully you will have them in the not to distant future. Beans I've sent state side:fl have taken anywhere from 7 days to 3 weeks .

This is "Black & White Goose" (top photo) another original bean of mine from the early 1980's. This bean too is stable, but like all my beans are exposed to other varieties and can put out an outcross once in a while. Which it did this year. The bottom photo is the new seed coat I discovered among Black & White Goose this season.
