Till soil, put down paper or plastic mulch and plant in the mulch. Water needs are decreased, weeds are decreased, and bugs are easier to spot. Not a bad idea. Pumpkins were relatively scarce here this fall. That means higher priced, of course.

cane might have to start production fall of 2018. You like you to grow at least a few this way can be label small farm home grown.
