Quietly sipping my coffee while I contemplate the day. Rain this morning but clearing out this afternoon. And still running a temperature.

I know there are always cruds running aound, especially come Spring or Fall, but it's been a week or so and I'm tired of it.

If we get some warm sun this afternoon, I'll be lounging outside. After a long nap this morning.

The time of Hunger Moon has passed but we are just barely into the time of fresh fruits and vegetables. Processed foods ... Fruits and Vegetables from Storage !?

Imagine how many months have passed since harvest and how these foods have changed in what nutrients are in them. Reduced to starch doesn't seem to me to represent the best diet, especially if the body is stressed with an infection.

Then there are the antibiotics, which probably put more stress on the body but if the immune system is falling short ...

I hope You are Well Soon.

We are picky as to what we will carry... a number of people have asked why we didn't open sooner, and your answer covers it. The quality of what's out there right now is not what we want to offer. Stuff that has been in storage, or picked early and gassed, much has been on the road for weeks from far away places.

Another two weeks, and we will start seeing Florida produce coming in, then South Carolina, and North Carolina. Then our local farms start producing, and we support as much local as we can.

One of my posts a couple years ago had a link to an outfit that provided information on locally in-season produce. Here in the West, I'd just like to see what is coming fresh from California, northern Mexico and places close to that region. I looked at it again this AM and decided that it wasn't really about "local" all that much.

Looking at a "pick your own" website was an advertisement jungle of click bait.

The government is listing things from storage. Farmers' markets will have "available" lists but it was interesting that the 3 or so that I checked in Southern Cal did not at this time of year ...

Finished my coffee, on my first cup of chamomile tea. 12 hours no temperature. I'll consider my quarantine done. DH made a good chicken, smashed potatoes and steamed carrots dinner. I know the chicken is what cured the issue. 😀

Good weed pulling day, ground just moist enough from yesterday rain. I need the activity.

Finishing the breakfast oolong, the herbal tea should be just about ready. Sure, dang near 50 minutes in the kettle :).

Watching radar this morning. I think that there is little chance of much rain but it will be interesting to see if the snowstorm in the Canadian Selkirks drops this far south. South of here, the Palouse is having some good rain and that is likely to be making the wheat farmers happy.

Oops. Dozed off. Now it's time for a second breakfast!

snow mostly melted and what isn't gone today will be gone eventually this week with warm and rains in the forecast. so, until next time... we're ok. driveway is all cleared up again and ice-free.
Our foot and a half of snow is melting too. I was planning to go out tomorrow to the post office, dump, and egg stand, and I'm thinking now it will still be possible. Plowed driveway and town road are melting down to pavement/gravel, and thankfully the snow that fell on the paths I shoveled yesterday morning has also melted too. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer still. Goodbye Winter, and don't let the door hit you on the way out!
