Joz, a large pot sounds great. 24 inch diameter is good, but remember, to really 'let 'er rip,' every year or so will need to repot. Brugs are famous for eating all the soil and nutrients in it, and quickly. Remember, it's solanaceae, same as tomato, pepper, etc...heavy feeders ;)
I've never...
Ohhh, like that recipe Riverman. Going to save that one. I'm laughing at the way Obsessed worded that too!
Riverman, can you elaborate on what kind or brand of Orange oil?
Well I don't really blame them for not wanting to list the ingredients, it's like an age old secret recipe, after all. Are you so close to state border you can just drive when needed? I've also been meaning to ask you and Steve (looks like you live close to one another) if either of you have...
Really? Wow Thistle, why? That stuff is almost magical. Oh, I just made some compost, that's a good idea using the tea. Going to add it next time, I just fed them this morning. ;)
I mostly use a double or triple dose of Superthrive in sprayer tank when foliar feeding, and do once weekly to heavy feeders. Sometimes I add weak fert.
Does anyone else foliar feed, and what do you use to do it? I do notice quite a difference when I do it routinely. :rainbow-sun
I need some expert advice. I have tried garlic twice, and both times killed it. What am I doing wrong?
I know this about me...I have a propensity to 'over' water. Or was it the soil? I did enrich but it is a sand bed base. Is there too much alkaline in soil?
Can anyone help? This delicious bulb...
Thistle, actually, they all do. Only the sanguineas have no odor, (vulcanicolas) All other brugs usually have very intense fragrance, it will fill the yard. ;)
Thank you very much for the scientific data on that Ms. 'Zilla. I appreciate knowing for sure what I'm dealing with, that's why I love the scientific name over the common any day. Makes things sooo much easier to identify :frow
YW AUssie. One question though, are you really in Australia, or in the states? I've never done any international shipping, and don't know the rules/CITES etc. If in states, no problem!
Isn't Chufa also called Nutsedge? I've been thinking about growing some of this 'weed' for a tasting.
I'll inventory my seeds after sunrise and see what I have. I've got plenty of seeds that are fresh, and won't be able to grow this year. Lol, read a post here where someone admitted to being in...
Morning,
I've started veggies like that in peat. You just have to be super cautious about when their taproot appears near bottom, then they MUST go into ground, lest you'll stunt their growth. If your timing is off even by a few days for their final garden home, you may have issue with adult...
Good morning,
I just wanted to say to my gardening friends, that with the cost of things today, most of us are really on tight budgets. As some of you may already have read, my husband is building me an enclosed 'screenhouse.' In our climate, it's the only way to really know you'll have a...
Where you are Thistle, they would have to come in. A heated garage would do. The great thing about brugmansia, is that they stay small enough and grow fast enough that you could actually plant out in ground after threat of frost, it would reach small tree size in one season, and bloom for you at...
TY Rich. :) I'll have to try that rooting trick, a couple are getting the older, yellowing leaves and need to 'exit, stage left' anyway. I am going to keep a few, just want to get some more light in there.
I will be trimming three or four of my brugs tomorrow morning and turning the cuttings into rootings. If anyone is interested in receiving one or two, let me know by posting here so I can keep track of the peeps interested, and email me with address when ready. All I ask for is postage. I'll let...
Very interesting Steve. I did'nt know that about determinates, being pre3described to fruit in specific spot. TY. Thank goodness I'm thinking of cutting on indeterminate too. They are beginning to get so big they are creating too much shade over the 5 foot strawberry tower, and making them...
