I love the smell, the look and the taste, but according to the nursery you have to keep the flowers trimmed or they quit growing. That's turned into a twice a day job, minimum.

This is my Brown Turkey Fig. It seems to be doing well, but I worried that the huge leaves growing at ground level are sucking all of the nutrients away from the rest of the tree. Here's my dilemma:
1. Should I prune the main leader off and let the large healthier appearing ones grow thus...
I'm just guessing here, but I'm assuming that everyone is just using native dandelions for everything? No one has purposely planted any of the fancy-shmancy organic, French, Italian ad infinitum, ad nauseum varieties that I see advertised.
So, The dandelion "crop" has been bumper this year so I've been pulling them up and giving them to the chickens. The girls love 'em, but I got to wonderin' if it was a good idea so I did a little research. Turns out they are extremely nutritious ranking right up there near Kale .

Getting ready to trim the basil. A search brought mixed results on how to do this. Some say a leaf-at-a-time, others say whole stems are the way to go and yet a third recommends a "military buzz cut" whatever that means. :hu
