They need constant air circulation too. This will help if they are getting to much water as well as a few other things. If you start to see them falling over from right at the dirt you are not getting them enough moving air. Most people don't realize that is just about as important as feed...
These are trays that are made out of styrofoam. When you plant them there is a hole in the bottom of each slot and for water access to the dirt and the roots often grow through them to get to the water. Most people that start tobacco plants grow them this way. Upon looking into it a little...
Does anyone here use floating "tobacco trays" to start plants? I have played with it a little this year and things have grown great, but then they all just die. I am wondering if it is root rot from being wet all the time or what the problem is. :hu I have not been but about 20% successful...
I am with out a doubt the wrong one to ask. I started with the exact same thought as you. My garden started as the spot under the old boat that I used to pile grass clippings. So it was about 8 ft by 15 ft. About 125 square foot if you are calculating. This year I did a minor expansion...
There is where people get nuts. DON'T BUY THOSE!! just use a standard hanging pot and cut an inch hole in the bottom. It is a whole lot cheaper and most all of us probably have an unused one anyway. :D
Not sure how you plan on getting those cantalope to work. The vine is not strong enough to "hang" and support the fruit. Will be interesting to see how the peppers fair. Keep us posted!
What weeds are you killing? if you want to kill the dandelions, clover, thistle you need to use 2-4D and any other form of broad leaf killer. those will not harm your grass.
Ok This may sound like an odd questions but is there anyone that know where different animal poo's rate on the fertilizer list? Chicken, goat, horse, rabbit, hog, cow you get the idea. Not only things like nitro count but when you can use them or when they are to "hot"
I keep mine about 20 feet apart hot and sweet and havent had a problem. However with that said I have also plant hot and sweet close to try things. Sometimes it works, Sometimes it doesnt.
It is one of the easiest things to grow IMO. One thing that several miss out on which helps is when the tomato is planted in the bottom plant beans of some type (I use asphragus green beans because they clim) in the top. Beans put nitrogen in the ground which aids the tomato plant. I grow...

I am hoping we will get a better production out of our black grapes this year. I want to try the wine making if there is any left from jellies and such. We just added peaches, plums, blackberries, more apples, and a couple of nut varieties to...
My DS has a thing going on at his school right now that is being sponsered by Bonnie plants. They gave each one of them a cabbage plant to grow and they are suppose to log the process and then weigh it at harvest for a best journal - biggest cabbage contest. You can look at Bonnie's site to...
OK
I have started several tomatoes and several more peppers. The tomatoes have come up about 90% which wasn't too bad for a 1st timer. However I can't seem to get the peppers to grow, hot or sweet either one. What do they need differently than the tomatoes? What am I doing wrong?
They are...
Can I borrow her and her new "tool". I have a pretty fair amount to "scoop" in the kennel!

Ok for starters I am positive that I spelled that wrong, sorry.
Now for my question - Where can I find seeds or plants? I would love to grow some so I can try my hand at making salsa verde.
Any Help?
Ok, I went and gave them thier daily watering and checked on the starts. The tomatoes are about 80% sprouted!! I haven't seen any peppers yet but they will take 2-3 days longer. I also started some herbs in the living room window with a new type of grow method that I heard about from a...
