Any idea what these critters are ??

Thank you all for the replies. I spent 20 years in the mountains above the Napa Valley before moving here to the North end of the Sacramento Valley 9 months ago. It's a whole different world here, different soil, weather, lots of new plants and animals. Thanks again for the help, Mark

I'm thinking that's it. The tree pics at the site you posted look very close. I searched Golden rain tree and found many that are a good match. I thank you all for your efforts.

Ideas on make and model ?

The last frost we had did a number on the tree, not many leaves left on it. The leaves fall individualy, detaching at their base. Then the stem that held multi leaves falls off leaving a bare branch.

The tree? has no flowers, no fruit that I have seen. I first saw the tree last March and it had no leaves, no anything, I thought it was dead. All of the other plants and trees in the area were leafing out. In June I saw the tree again and it had a lush, thick bunch of the greenest green leaves...

    Amending concrete

Thank you for the welcome and the advice. Based on my many minutes of experience I am excited about the possibilities around here. The soil I am working with was brought up from the river bank and spread to a depth of about 18", My neighbor calls it loam. It drains very well and when it is...

I believe I am in zone 8, It can get as low as 15f in winter and as high as 115f in summer. The soil texture here is beautiful when damp, sloppy when wet, and...
