Y'all may remember a little rant I had a while back about my in-laws...
Well, this week my hubby's sister, mother, and grandmother are coming to visit. They are all a little bit wacky, but I love them.
They will eat anything I make, not being the picky type. :D
They are getting a room at a...
I actually just used the torches to prop things up. They don't even have any oil in them right now. One is holding up the dill that tipped over in the wind and the other one had been holding up the tomatillo. I keep meaning to get an actual stake and put the torches back where they go, but then...
I had to go in and tidy up my herb bed this week.
Before
I had put a single tomatillo plant in there along with my other stuff and it had gotten huge! It was nearly 6 feet across and about 5 feet tall. So I pulled it out yesterday I also pulled all 3 of the nest egg gourds I had growing on...
I collect my own eggs and hatch for the most part. I've never had eggs shipped but I have bought from other farmers locally a couple of times. I can't really justify spending a lot of money on hatching eggs right now. :)
Yes, quite a few of the Pekins will be processed when they get bigger. I do plan to keep about 6 hens and a drake for breeding and eggs, though. I'm hoping the Rouens are 2 hens and a drake, so that we can breed more. The Marans are indeed for eggs. I just love the dark brown color. :love
Hubby went out to "get some ducks." This is not what I expected!
There are 24 ducklings there. I'll be needing to build a new duck house this weekend.
He also brought me these 5 Marans chicks (4 wheaten and 1 black!)
And 10 hatching eggs (4 EE and 6 New Hampshire.) Which I don't have a...
They were from my own flock. I just got done cleaning out the incubator and brooder, which is good, because hubby just surprised me with 4 EE eggs and 6 New Hampshire eggs to hatch (along with 24 Peking ducklings and 5 Marans chicks.)
We had a big old gnarly mulberry out by the road when we moved in. We knew it was in bad shape, but we had no idea how bad it really was. When hubby had the mini-ex here last weekend he decided to pull down a dead branch that would keep my grandfather from pulling his trailer onto the...
I lost another 2 so I switched to medicated feed and then the rest died. :(
I'm not sure what the problem was, but I'll be scrubbing out the incubator and brooder before the next batch hatches in a few weeks and hope for the best. :fl
Okay, so Goose (the duck) has a crest. All of it's offspring will have crests then? If it turns out to be a boy then all of my future ducklings will have a crest?
