i got the glass picked out of the rocks. none of it will get reused as it pretty much all shattered. was not fun moving those rocks and getting the glass out of there. put a piece of cardboard up - not sure how long it will stay there but it is better than nothing, maybe... i don't have a...
we did have some damage from the storms but we didn't notice it until yesterday when Mom said that one of the stained glass panes on the lighthouse was shattered.
without having the ladder up yet and taking a closer look i don't see any structural damage up there but i'll have to get up there...
not so funny business, but i just had to share this one from the news with Mom because as a kid i was dragged to a lot of sporting events and we had a few parents that were really this bad...

for ultra-low-tech you can take a clean new wicker basket (rinse it off first to get the dust off it) and put some cheesecloth in the bottom and up the sides and then use it as a strainer.

i've never peeled grapes to make grape jam, but jam is different than jelly. what i have done is used a food mill to get the skins separated.

i didn't know the local town had damage from this storm until a few minutes ago when checking the news headlines. not sure if there was a tornado involved... i signed on to check the weather radar as i'm hoping for no more rain for a few hours yet.
black ant season is here. they have nests around and i have to keep track of them enough to make sure they don't get nests going in the walls, etc. of the house. yesterday they were working on one trail so i stomped on those i could and put out some bait to take them out. i have a few tubes...
there's only a few places big enough in the front part i could even park it let alone do anything with it but i could use it out back to cut some grass back there and clean up some brush...
in the arid west parts of the country they are taught to check shoes, etc. for spiders and scorpions before putting things on. i do that too here for spiders - we have a lot of jumping spiders that get into things.
what is tough with snakes is that they can hide well and may startle you and that reaction can probably cause some potential tripping and falling damage. i wonder if it got close to the killdeer nest... i'll find out later.
we were going to sleep as the storms got to us. i checked the power company outage website to see if there were a lot of problems or not and it was pretty bad to the west and south of us but by the time the storms got to us they were not quite as strong so we were ok. a lot of people without...
