OK, problem hopefully solved. But if these turn out to be legit pole beans I'm going to probably need to come up with some more...but I'll cross that bridge should I get to it. With the crazy weather we've had, it's like the beans exploded from the ground - these seeds were planted on 5/14 and I feel like they're a week or two ahead of where they'd normally be and I'm seeing that with nearly everything this year.

My first harvest this year. Beans planted in pots to multiply the number of seeds.

Quaker Bush - all the leaves have fallen off and the plant has finished growing.

Lillooet - there were only four pods, but that's 16 more seeds. The plant is blooming again.

Buddha's Bellybutton - It's a network bean with an uncertain growth type, so I wanted to finally determine it. Now in the garden BB grows among bush beans. I see that the plant in the pot will not bloom again.

The Moro bean is only growing for now :)

I also planted Peau de Vache Normande in the pot. It was supposed to be bush bean but it turned out that it is not quite stable yet. In the pot it began to climb strongly. The seeds have retained their color but are smaller and thinner. The shape resembles the seeds of one of the parent varieties - French filet bean Rudy.

Thank you! I've got very limited space to work with and the raised beds are a really nice option. We're in an urban area and the soil isn't ideal so this setup works really well for a small salad garden and of course beans.

@Bluejay77 did you get your beans planted yet?

I noticed as I was putting away the network bean packets that Gabarone Sugar is labeled as a pole though I thought it was a semi-runner for some reason, so I checked A Bean Collector's Window and it's described there as a semi-runner. Which one do you think is correct?

i planted about half (the other half is being saved for next season and possibly some inside ones too if it looks like i'm not getting enough seeds back) of my various Purple Dove out-crosses and oddities yesterday in seven groups. and also planted some of my other project beans (the Lavender white, light colors, slightly darker and then the regular ones which might be mixed with pole or semi-runner out crosses that i'll have to weed out to get them back to bush habit - i also put some Adzuki beans with them since that interplanting did really well for me last season and i want to see how it does or perhaps it was just a fluke).

also planted Atwater, Striped Bunch, Montville and Andikove beans to see if i can get enough for a full return of quality seeds from them. i suspect Atwater may be a real challenge because i only have three beans of those.

another bean that was planted is one i'm calling Purple Potato, but that is a temporary working name. it has the right shape for the name but the color is very unusual - it's one of the Santa beans that @Bluejay77 sent me from before and it was the only one that survived being deer trampled and eaten because by chance i'd planted some inside the fenced gardens in an empty spot and those plants gave me enough seeds to work with for this season. none of the other Santa beans planted survived deermageddon - but i still have a bunch i can plant. i'm not sure yet if i'll be planting many of them this season with other projects on the list and space is running out inside the fenced space.

I didn't yet get my beans planted in my offsite. I spent three days in the hospital with goofy heart rythms. Palpitations in other words. Lots of PVC's. In fact all last week I had 45 beats a minute heart rate and PVC's (preventrical contractions). I have had this to some degree for a vry long time, but I think it's been progressively getting a little worse. So Saturday night I checked into the ER and they checked me out. Sunday they did an Echo Cardiagram. They didn't find anything there. Today was a stress test and again everything looked great. They want me to check in with an Electro Physyological Specialist. I might have some places on the surface of my heart that is conducting extra electrical signals. They might have to zap them to stop all the heart palpitations.

Tomorrow I hit the ground running. 8 tomato plants to plant and lots of seed and prestarted limas to get into the ground. Some of the limas already have runners on them that want to wrap around something. The PVC"s are not life threatening.

I believe that the Gabarone Sugar is a semi-runner.

@heirloomgal, I grew the Gabarone Sugar in 2018...it was a very slow growing pole bean for me. Oddly enough, I put some notes and pictures on the 2018 version of this thread - if you search Gabarone, you'll see the posts. It looks like mine could've used an extra month but I did get a decent amount of seed.
