I bought some potted herbs at Meijer on Thursday, too--sage, thyme, parsley and mint.
I cleaned off the top of the fridge, cleaned the heat mat and LED light that I had stored in the back room--I should have all 4 transplanted by this evening.
I think we all should assume that purchased plants are pot bound.View attachment 79706
Nice 👍
I'm hoping to get some oregano soon. My parsley and thyme survived the winter on my porch. No such luck with the oregano

I'm trying to find sharp sand this year. I was told it might help with my clay soil and the slug situation .

having been doing this myself for over 20yrs on heavy clay soil, some added sand will help, but also some organic materials put on top to let the worms work on it and do the mixing for you, it also helps with the drainage with their burrows drilling holes.

the problem with all of it though is that the added organic materials need to be replenished from time to time and the lighter materials can wash or get blown away. the same with raised beds and edges, it adds complications to be dealt with. :)

Thank you. I can only get a little organic veg peals. But even a little will help

Youngest DD received a bouquet of condolence flowers which she brought to ME to enjoy. A couple of coworkers in the courthouse gave them to her. I'm not a Big fan of cut flowers, but these were special bc they are good friends of hers and bc of the sentiment. Anyway, I changed the water a few times and yesterday I pulled them out, dropped the dead ones into the burn barrel, trimmed the stems and added fresh water. I don't know what the white bulbous ones are and I would appreciate it if anybody here can identify them. Many of them dried into a seed and I am drying the seeds out in case they might sprout this summer. Here they are on February 13th and again the leftovers on February 22nd, also a close up of the white "things," which I have never seen before--maybe they are tropical?
