I did quick search for "capsicum flexuosum seeds". I don't shop Amazon or Etsy, but I couldn't seem to find a reputable seller. Where did you find Yours?
I got them from 2 places, Small Island Seed & Cicada. They were $1 per seed, the most costly seeds I think I've bought and that seems to be what everyone charges. It's an interesting species, but in a cold climate you have to not mind overwintering plants every year! And I, well, I mind!

Pods are finally starting to roll in in a big way. The cardboard flats are piling up with peas and beans. I've been going to the grocery store and combing the isles, filling up my cart as high as I can get it with them. One store clerk was like 'mam, do you need all those boxes?' I think she thought I took a cart the stocking person had discarded after cleaning the shelves. Someone who works at that store has got be liking me a whole lot right now since I'm saving them a fair bit of work, lol.

Went to Killarney Channel on Georgian Bay yesterday, to bring DD free diving. I love that little marina town, vibes just hit so good over there. The yachts from Michigan are breathtaking, just wonders of beauty. Had the strangest experience out on the water though. We paddled out past the channel into Georgian Bay, out along some rock cliffs where we could get into some small coves where the bottom was still visible. Unfortunately I'm still recovering from a bad ear infection from the last dive, so had to sit this one out on the paddleboard while DD went in. (Given how cold that water was - ice - I don't think I would have made it anyway. DD has a wet suit so she had some protection.

I was enjoying the warm morning rays as DD explored underwater, until an odd shaped boat appeared with many seagulls hovering above it. Being unfamiliar with marina life, for some reason I didn't think too deeply about that. The man waved, and I hesitantly sort of returned the wave, but began to register that something odd was going on. Killarney is famous for 'fly in fish & chips', and there is a lot of people who drive there in planes to have the fish dinner. DH even once went there by plane with a neighbour to have them. Then I caught the smell - this must be from that restaurant and sure enough two men proceeded to dump huge plastic bins of fish waste into the water. An oil slick formed immediately across the surface of the water, and we had to relocate. It was horrendous. My paddle grip even felt a bit funny from the slight bit of oil. When we got back to the marina later that day sure enough that very boat was parked behind the restaurant at their dock. I guess that's how they do it over there, but yikes pretty gross. Lots of people didn't realize the bubbles and bits of debris gathering on some of the accessible shores was from that boat.

We had a great time all in all, Lake Huron is incredible, but hard to imagine how that is permitted in an area where there are so many people enjoying the water!

sad that they do that dumping close to shore. maybe they've been doing it for so long that they don't even think about it any more...

i have flats within flat stacked up in the corner which makes storage very efficient. i always look for ones that can be added to the stacks. :)

Anything special for those boats and passengers regarding border patrol these days?

I have never traveled by water beyond US borders.

Steve

i'm sure there have always been rules and laws about passengers and passports. now if someone were wanting to run a smuggling ring that's a whole different issue and not something that is talked about in public. i know nothing about it other than what the news reports.

fish eat fish all the time. it's not wrong to dispose of wastes in places where the fish are there and will eat it.

it is wrong to do it close enough to shore to cause a problem for beaches and swimming. i don't know what the regulations are in that area...

as for why they won't be doing on-shore disposal is going to be purely costs as it would likely put them out of business.

large fishing fleets do not usually bring fish ashore to be processed any more, it's all done right on the boat and disposed of ASAP. they don't want to be hauling wastes a second longer than needed (weight is $ to move).
