I'm alive and kicking. I've been working a TON of overtime so that's where I've been. No I'm not thrilled about being on the ambulance for 70+hrs a week but you do what you gotta do. We've sold what we can part with, so now its just a matter of logging more hours to get ourselves out of debt. We had someone go out on short term disability so I've been picking up every shift I can while he's out.

Garden did good this year. Lost a few pumpkins to the deer but Ill be getting them back in a few weeks. Still digging up potatoes when I've got the time and we plan on getting those canned here as I dig up the last of them. Made a bunch of jam, and butters (peach and apple) plus apple sauce and have a bunch of canned veggies this year.

I figured Id drop everybody a line and say Hi and let you know whats up. I don't know what next week looks like but Im sure Ill be busy. We're going to be free damn it.

Keep growing and keep the faith

Good for you!! Nothing better than the feeling of "debt free!" Just make sure you take care of yourself- don't get yourself sick, working so much! Glad you had success in the garden. I hear deer meat finished with pumpkins is delish! Enjoy the taste of summer this winter with all your canned goods!

It's good the overtime is available. Digging yourself out of the hole isn't easy. Hang in there.

My uncle and great uncle used to finish a couple of steers each year with winter squash as an important part of their feed.

My DD informed me last night that she may be able to "afford a new car by early next year" . . . !

It took me nearly an hour before I screwed up enuf courage to ask her: "Would that car be new or new-to-you?"

She told me that it would be new-to-her. I can breath . . . SIL has student loan debt. He has worked full-time for several years but that hangs over their head. Both are driving seriously old cars :/. They've got good snow tires and don't have too many miles to drive each day. DD's work is within bicycle range but . . .

Priorities. Health has to be at the top of the list! Take care of yourself, Jared!

I'm currently on the back half of a 48. We have tons of OT available here too. In the past 2 wks we have gone down 5 paramedics, 3 permenantly (moved or changed jobs) and 2 hopefully temporary (one to knee surg the other to shoulder surg). At my service we have stations we don't have to post in the ambulance all shift so that makes it better.

Good luck w/ the out of debt thing, we are actively working on that too we are getting closer (even our house is less then 5 years)

good to hear you have such a short time left to pay off the house Kassaundra! wish i could say that! i'm glad that the value of our house according to the city's assessment is close to what we need to pay it off!

hubby lost his temp job of 2 months but it seems good that he is already being asked to come in to interview tomorrow morning for another temp agency for some potential employers that have lots of different jobs for him! his R & D and engineering/physics skills seem to be in high demand but i just wish one of them would take him on permanently even if they don't give him health or dental, days off would be nice though! i can cover the health/dental part through where i work.

Jared, it takes alot of hard work to get out of debt but you are already on the road to getting there! Keep up the good work. Like Lesa says, take care of yourself. Try to get enough sleep and make sure you eat well. That's mom talking to you! ;) Eventually you will reach your goal.

I hate credit cards and car payments. We haven't had these in awhile and it feels great.
