America's Forgotten Fruit

I hate bananas. Never have liked them. Blech. :sick They are mushy, they stink and they taste gross. :tongue And here I am planting seeds to grow a tree for a fruit that tastes like......bananas? :thThe sheep/chickens/pigs/dogs/whatever can eat 'em.

Don't like banana splits? I would expect that from some but say it ain't so!

Obviously @baymule is not a true southerner as banana pudding is a southern staple as is black eyed peas...... Of course, she is a Texan.

Bay you don't like banana splits :th:th:th:th

NO!

I like bananas and I adore ice cream, but even I don't like banana splits.
I like my ice cream to be well separated from any competition except hot fudge.

I love my ice cream too, but not bananas.

My poor husband adores banana pudding and I won't make it for him because I loathe bananas. So on this issue I lean toward the Texas side of me and happily abandon the Southern part and give up my share of bananas!

Since banana nut bread and pecan pie are among Southern and Texas favorite desert fares .... Can you make an exception and partake of banana nut bread made with overripe bananas ( bananas have to be overripe or the bread just doesn't taste good )and pecans like my wife's banana nut breads as well as her pecan pies took first place awards at several Cal. county fairs ? :drool :drool

Ok Bob, you've always been reluctant to share your wife's recipes. But can you share her pecan pie recipe, please?

Mary
