My grandpa told me this one and with the hot weather I think it's appropriate.

One Summer, just as the corn was getting dry it got so hot the popcorn started popping in the ears and flying around in the air.
The old mule took one look, decided it must be snowing and froze to death. :lau

Somebody got another one?

Grandpa was full of tall tales.
Some folks said that wasn't all he was full of.
Here's another of his stories.
He claimed he was sitting at the kitchen table one day when a tornado kicked up and came right through the window.
It took the pancakes right off his plate and didn't touch anything else.
He said he just kind of sat there staring and durned if that tornado didn't turn right around and come back through the other window.
This time it got the syrup.

If you're in the mood for tall tales you might like this little story I wrote just for fun on the Paperback Swap site. (different user name) I called it "The Sour Mash Hog".

Wow great story, ya know same thing happened to me back in 64 in north west Arkansas, big ole pigs in those hills.

I guess its not a 'tall' tale to add to yours... but my popcorn did pop right on the ear this summer. :hu Not like the whole ear, but I showed hubby, there were at least 3-4 kernels on several ears that did pop. 5 days at around 110 I guess can actually do that with high humidity in NC!!! :bee
