Anybody like carrots

I like carrots, but I am lousy at growing them. I have some Amarillo yellow carrots out in the garden now, going to pull them next week. I sow a LOT of seeds to get the few that I grow.

When you say "lousy at growing." What do you mean? What do you have trouble with? I'm no expert, but I can tell you what I do.

I sow mine very shallow and I cover with wet cardboard & keep it wet until they germinate. Just keep a check and when they sprout, remove the cardboard.

My soil is blackland Gumbo, so I planted mine in a raised bed this year and had real good luck.

I use Garden Tone and Black Kow brand manure for fertilizer

we scrub them a little, chop off the ends and eat them in chunks most of the time. juicing is just too much noise for me, especially in the morning... i have a hard enough time with cereal. i do like carrot juice though... i would be really orange if we ever got into it. i also love 'em roasted until they get a little black.
