i am new to saving seeds sosorry if this is a stupid ?

i collected seeds from a couple of our last pumpkins and put them out to dry before storing.i hoped to plant them for our pigs next year.i usually leave them out on the table for a day or 2.well,i didn't watch the weather but new it wasn't supposed to rain and that morning when i went out to feed there was a heavy frost.i have heard ot people freezing their seeds but did the frost hurt them?

thanks

I would guess they are fine. You can always try to sprout a couple in between damp paper towels, to check.

Considering that "in the wild" the pumpkin seeds would stay outside all winter and then sprout in the spring... I think you'll be fine. :) Otherwise, no plants would be able to re-seed themselves! -Wendy

You are probably good and you only need a few viable ones to produce a ton of pumpkins.

DO they have the nice white coating on them?

thanks guys

lesa-i will sprout a few

wsmoak-i thought these might be damaged because they were out in the open and not under leaves etc.

April Manier-yeah you're right,i should still get a few to survive.
