Beautiful house, @ninnymary! The colors are close to the house we are doing. Same-ish lt. and dk. green only ours will have a red and orange as accent colors. I'm hoping to get photo or two tomorrow when I go out for breakfast.
It is Stunning. I love it.
You where not kidding when you said it was a small yard. I do think you could use something a bit larger than pea gravel. Then you could blow or leaf vac the leaves that fall there. I do think a bench, a sculpture, fountain or birdbath would look nice too. A planter with some succulents that tolerate drier conditions. (I have seen some fabulous succulents out there, colorful and unique.)
With our drought conditions, it takes a lot of water to water our front lawn which is small at approximately 200 sq. feet. I prefer to use this water for my garden in the backyard. In addition my husband weekly cuts and edges the grass. He also trims the hedges on either side of the lot. I have done the math and the artificial grass would cost us about $25 a month over a 10 yr. period. When I think of the water savings and my husbands time and labor, it seems like a good deal to me.
