bees in the bbq

Yeah, saw that... The big yuppie dork. That's nothing to brag about! That hive could have been so easily removed by a beek. Poor bees!

Must have been on BYC that someone showed that. Such a sad waste. People just don't understand bees.

I would tolerate those bees and tell dh to get a cheap grill for the summer. I have bumble bees in my crawl space and will put up with them until they die off in the winter.

I know wasps are beneficial,but I will admit I have killed them when they set up house in areas that resulted in them attacking me,kids,and dogs.I will never forget the one year there was a hornet nest on the inside roof of the kids plastic playhouse.It was beautiful,but when I pushed the mower in to cut the grass I found out how painful the stings are.They were removed,but I got some great pictures of the home they created.

I have seen that before too. It is bad enough they killed off the bees but look at all the honey that they wasted too!

I am VERY fortunate because we have a beekeeper a few miles south of us. I love to plant flowers fairly close to my vegetables, because they always attract some of their bees. This weekend I saw bees on both my cosmos and a scarlet runner bean vine that is growing 3 foot away from it. A week ago I saw several bees on my bee balm flowers.
I just wanted to mention this because it is NEVER a bad idea to plant flowers in and close to your vegetable garden.
