we had two of them over the years. the first one was at the house we owned in the big city and it was a tiny lot. once we moved to the country and a much larger lot there was no way for that to work very well - plus there were moles.
they bought a new version of the spinning clippers for mowing here - that lasted one time and it was clearly not something Mom could do - she just doesn't have that kind of strength and the step-dad wouldn't do any kind of lawn care or gardening and nearly got Mom to abandon it all herself, but i kept helping out as much as i could so we could continue with what we'd already gotten done.
we set that mower out at the end of the driveway with the FREE sign on it and it was gone within 15 minutes.
just the other day i told Mom that she was retired from having to mow. she's been happy to tell everyone that. i'm ok with mowing even if i hate it. it's only a few hours here or there and a good workout that i don't get any other way. in a few weeks it will become routine...
